We moved to Harlow in September 1960. The hospital was being built. Wych elm which was near where we lived just had the dairy, in the rest was grass. We used to cut across to The High. The painted lady was the pub on the corner. We had to walk to The Stow for the library. Sainsburys wasn’t in broad walk yet. I used to do my shopping in Williams bros or international stores who would deliver free. The train service not really in existence yet. But it was a nice place to live and start married life.”
